Successful first “DECA-Day” in club history

The past Friday, Dec. 2, the DECA-Club members spent their first “DECA-Day” in club history at Northwood University in preparation for their upcoming district and state competitions.

The business students of Northwood provided the DHS students with business specific workshops and professors gave presentations about industries such as the automobile industry. DECA members also competed in a mock competition using a similar concept as the upcoming competitions against other school teams.

“It is good, because we have 57 new members this year and for this new guys it is really important to get as much exposure as they can to actually compete in a case study,” DECA club president senior Varun Shanker said.

Only a limited number of students will go to the state competition. To decide who to send the DECA members took a multiple choice test similar to the test used in the district competition. The club will get the results after the upcoming district competition on Dec. 20 at Saginaw Valley State University.
