Girls varsity basketball falls to Howell

Girls varsity basketball played their first game of the season against Howell High School on Tues, Nov 29, at home. In a tough game, the Chargers lost 42-51. 

DHS’s team started off behind in the first quarter, but quickly took the lead for the next two quarters. Senior Jenna Butcher led the way as the highest scorer of the game with 15 points and seven rebounds.

“It feels amazing to be back out on the court and with her best friends,” junior Lauren VanSumeren said.

VanSumeren helped lead the team on offense and defense and said that with this loss the team will work hard in practice to get better every day.

The Lady Charger’s next game is this Saturday against Detroit Renaissance at Arbor Prep High School at 6:20 pm.
