The Michigan High School Coaches Association chose Terry Schwarzkopf to be inducted into the coaches hall of fame on Sept. 26 in Mount Pleasant. Schwarzkopf’s success in tennis includes eight state championships in the last 15 years, 15 straight years finishing top five in the state, and having multiple students going to colleges to play tennis.

This is Schwarzkopf’s third time being inducted into a hall of fame, however, this is the first time that it has been an all sports coaches hall of fame and not a tennis specific one.

“The fact that I’m recognized amongst the hockey and the basketball and the football coaches to be worthy of an honor to be enshrined with them is a big deal for me,” Schwarzkopf said.

Not only is Schwarzkopf a successful coach, but he is also a mentor to many players.

 “I think he understands high schoolers really well, and he understands that at the end of the day, tennis is just a sport, and he cares more about us becoming better people than becoming better players,” senior, doubles state championship winner, and current player Ethan Clark said. 

Schwarzkopf has had a lot of success in the past and is having a lot of success right now. The varsity tennis team has multiple players who are undefeated and many more with winning records. Overall, Schwarzkopf has not only met but exceeded hall of fame expectations.
