On Dec. 10, 2019, the German Club met again in room 377. The central attraction of the meeting was a karaoke competition. Students signed up to perform songs in different languages.
The person behind German Club, German teacher Brian Smith, thought it was a good way to attract students to the club.
“Yeah, because it gives the students a cultural reason to be here, not just hang around eat snacks and talk to friends,” Smith said. “But also there’s something about the culture that they’re either engaged in or learning about.”
This isn’t the only meeting German Club is excited about. Club president and junior Molly Birch has her focus set on an upcoming meeting.
“I think my favorite event, which is actually a new event I have planned for this year we’re going to make their called Mozartkugel,” Birch said. “It’s a candy that [we] will be making towards the end of the year at one of our last meetings. I think that’s what I’m most excited about because they’re really good chocolates, and I’m excited to show that aspect of German culture with the rest of the club.”
