Satire strikes home

Supposedly, Midland Blooms wants to plant marijuana plants alongside Eastman Road in 2020. At least, that’s what the satirical news publication the Midland Gazette states as facts.

Don’t worry, Midland Blooms isn’t actually planting marijuana. However, it is slightly comical to think about the possibility.

The Midland Gazette is a Facebook-only satirical news magazine that covers Midland, Michigan, and was created solely for entertainment purposes. The page was started on Oct. 12, and since its inception has gained over 3,500 followers on Facebook, with other positive community reception.

The worst new source in Midland, MI.

Midland Gazette Representative

An anonymous Midland Gazette representative enjoys being a part of the staff, and thought that there were plenty of opportunities for satire in the Midland community.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” the representative said. “I’ve always enjoyed reading articles from the Onion and Babylon Bee, and figured there were plenty of local issues ripe for satire in our own community.”

The Midland Gazette representative stated that they want to keep writing for the satire publication as long as it doesn’t feel like work, and that it doesn’t involve any sort of paycheck, it’s just for entertainment purposes. As of Jan. 13, 2020, the publication currently has a total of about 50 articles on its Facebook page, and continues to grow.
