Spring: the season when the weather gets a little nicer and there’s more to do. Many say that there’s nothing to do in Midland, but they can be proven wrong if they look close enough. Downtown Midland is filled with a myriad of things to do in the spring time. There are small shops, such as Little Forks Outfitters, walking distance from coffee shops like Journey’s Coffee Shop or Espresso Milano . Many students are up for studying while sipping on a hot beverage.
Junior Carolina Donoso believes that Downtown Midland is a great place to spend time during this time of the year.
“Students should try to visit Downtown Midland more often to give it a more attractive and lively reputation,” Donoso said.
There are a variety of restaurants for everyone’s taste. Pizza Sam’s is a popular pizza place that many families visit. The Tridge (which is also in the Downtown Midland area), sometimes includes concerts for the whole family. They can bring blankets and sit down and enjoy the performers. Concerts include Tunes by The Tridge and a variety of bands that include music from a variety of genres .
Another place that offers many new experiences in the spring is The Alden B. Dow Home and Studio. When talking to Craig McDonald, the director of the home, he expressed his excitement. “We are so excited that the ice on our pond has finally melted. We have already been visited by Canadian Geese, Mallards and Mergansers! We take this as a sure sign that Spring is here!’ He included that spring is one of there busiest times with educational programs and daily tours. He also expressed that the Alden B home does attract students because Mr. Dow was challenging the world by creating new expressions in architecture. The Dow Gardens is also a sight to see in the spring.

Try and avoid using the word “includes” three times between two sentences, but I appreciate Midland’s downtown being covered and possibly informing people about what is there
