The DECA club has been constantly working in preparation for the State Career Development Conference on March 13 to March 15 in Grand Rapids. Following the club’s success last year, the stakes are high for some DECA members that are hoping to do well enough at States to qualify for the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla. this upcoming spring.
DECA treasurer junior Diana Camacho believes the preparation methods they are using for States are very effective.
“We are preparing for DECA states by looking at different online resources and booklets that give us information about our topics,” Camacho said. “[We also study] the different performance indicators we need to know, and tips for a successful role play.”
DECA President senior Audrey Moolenaar said that studying for the test and practicing for the role plays is the key to making it to Internationals and doing well on States.
“If you do well on the test then there’s a better chance you will make it to Internationals in Orlando this April,” Moolenaar said. “We are also about to start practicing for the role plays in about a week, which I think will help the new members do well.”
