“The purpose of the camp is to do what we can to get their minds off of what’s going on,” freshmen Kassandra Strahl said.
Strahl has been working with the people of Camp Centaur, a pediatric camp for children who have cancer or children with immediate family members with cancer, to help organize fundraisers. The children ride horses, fish in a pond, create arts and crafts and play games. In order to do these things, however, the camp must do fundraisers.
On Oct. 12, Camp Centaur is having a walk/bike-a-thon at the Midland City Forest to raise money for the camp. The event runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm and all proceeds go to the camp. There is also a chance a raffle to win a 21 speed bicycle.
On Oct. 13, they are having a fundraiser, the Enchanted Forest, at the Sport Horse Center south of Bullock Creek High School. The event starts at 1:00 and ends at 4:00 pm. There will be pony rides, games, prizes and a ‘trick thru the woods’ where children can get candy. They are also accepting donations of candy for the ‘trick thru the woods’.
