As yet another school year begins, hunting season is quickly approaching. If a student is trying to improve their waterfowl accuracy, or just have a good time at the range, they should check out Trap and Skeet club. Even though there is no competitive matches at this time of year, the club meets every Wednesday at the Freeland Conservation Club to prepare for either hunting or the spring competition season, depending on what kind of shooting the students prefer to do. The DHS custodian, Mr. Chism, is the organizer of the club and welcomes anyone who would like to get a taste of sport shooting to come out and give it a shot. 

Brent Chambers, who essentially started the club as a combined MHS and DHS team before they split with dedicated coaches, believes it is a wonderful  way to get outdoors and have fun. 

“The benefit is anybody can do it, and it’s a gender equal sport,” Chambers said. “Once you call pull there’s no athletic advantage to being a particular body size or a particular gender or anything like that.”
