Midland Burger Company adds two new restaurants in area

Things are heating up as Midland Burger Company expands its domain. Jim and Ashley Welch are the owners of Midland Burger Company, a local business that is continuing to grow. Midland Burger Company was a small food truck that is now transforming into two locations. One of the two permanent locations that are currently open is located in the Midland Mall, and the second is a permanent location in downtown Midland.

“Our business is definitely growing,” Ashley said. “We’ve gone from one mobile location and added two brick and mortar locations. Our new customers each day are in the 70-80 percent range, so we’re definitely getting out to more people.”

After one summer of daily serving, the Welch’s decided to expand and find a permanent location on Ashman in downtown Midland, next to Espresso Milano.

“Any successful business takes a tremendous amount of work, dedication, and sacrificing the things you want to do with your free time in order to do the things you need to do,” Ashley said. “Quality control is very important to us. We spend a great deal of our time trying to perfect everything.”

Holding the name the Midland Burger Company comes with certain responsibilities, such as gathering their ingredients from a local supplier.

“We buy from local food sources because it’s the easiest way to get the freshest, highest quality product,” Ashley said. “Fresh food tastes better than food that’s aged or didn’t have an opportunity to fully ripen before being harvested. Canned food is not nearly as flavorful, and if what we did was as simple as opening a can and reheating the food then anyone could do it and there wouldn’t be much reason to buy a burger from us.”

Midland Burger Company started with no set location, besides a food truck, and has now expanded to two new permanent locations.

“I think, like most small business owners, we hope for continued success and growth,” Ashley said. “We have some pretty large dreams and would love to be able to parlay our success with the food truck and subsequent restaurants into seeing those dreams achieve fruition.”

Midland Burger Company started off small but continues to see persistent success as more people discover their new location. They hope to be able to achieve their goals after the positive feedback they’ve received in their food truck and restaurants.

“We’re incredibly excited about expanding our business to new locations,” Ashley said. “With more restaurants, we are able to reach new customers who hadn’t necessarily heard of us previously.”
