Flying to get fit

Aerial fitness, also known as anti-gravity yoga, originated in 1991 in New York City by gymnasts who wanted that same exhilaration as flipping after their competitive season. Christopher Harrison, a  world-class gymnastics specialist and Broadway dancer, had the idea of incorporating hanging fabric from a ceiling and using a blend of Pilates, cardio, and yoga to create a new form of exercise. Element 22 located in Midland, Michigan is one of many studios offering aerial fitness classes for people of all ages.
