The Charger Closet, a new project from Student Leadership, was announced on Apr. 14. Created to help DHS students who can’t afford new clothes or school supplies, Student Leadership is hoping this project will help students’ performance at school by providing them with the materials they need to succeed.
“There are some kids that are less fortunate at Dow High, and we’re just looking for a way to help them out by having people donate clothing, shoes, hygiene products,” sophomore Trevor Davis said.
Before the Charger Closet can start assisting others, it needs help from DHS students. The Charger Closet is asking for donations of gently used clothing, shoes, jackets, school supplies, and new hygiene products. Donations will be collected in third hour and the class with the most items will receive a pizza party. Money can also be given but each class must have a minimum of $25 to be considered in the competition. The class with the highest money donation will receive donuts.
Other members of the community can donate items in the box in the Main Office or bring donations to Room 308.
The window for donations will close on Apr. 24. At this time, all donations will be collected by Student Leadership.
