Making sound waves

The U-Hall has been filled with sounds of homemade instruments that the IB Physics 1 SL class has been making. They have been studying sounds and waves for the past few weeks and this project is putting their knowledge to the test. They are creating instruments, tuned with real musical notes and are going to be performing a song for the class on their instruments. Several groups are playing songs like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

“We’ve been using pipes so frequently, it hertz,” senior Julia Henry said.

The students will be performing their instruments in-class this week. They have recorded themselves playing their instruments along with performing for interested bystanders.
