On Sat., Jan. 17, both the JV and varsity pompon teams competed in the regional competition at Heritage High School and received scores high enough to be placed in the highest division possible at the state competition. With states only a few days away, the team has been practicing and making changes to their regional routine to give a spectacular performance this weekend.
“I’m most excited to get out there and show everybody just how good of a team we are,” junior Hannah Robison said. “We’ve put so much time and effort into this routine and I’m very confident that we could score the highest Dow High has ever scored.”
With the pompon program becoming stronger every year, each competition brings even more hype than the last.
“Getting second place at Highkick and receiving a high enough score to be part of best division at states was a good start,” senior Hannah Frazier said. “Taking advantage of the opportunity and actually placing well at states would be the highlight of my senior year. Breaking a Dow High record would be something I would never forget.”
