With the school year in full swing, DECA is preparing for a new year with a membership goal of 66 members to make them eligible for the DECA Gimme 5! award. Students have already started new efforts to raise funds for the club. Club co-president sophomore Varun Shanker is extremely excited to be the head of the chapter’s unchartered territory.

“We’ve put everybody into our new efforts,” Shanker said. “We’re selling a variety of things to people in the community for our fundraising efforts this year.

The chapter held their first meeting on Sept. 9 and students have been joining ever since. Co-president senior Audrey Moolenaar believes that the chapter is going to reach new heights this school year.

“We’re expecting to meet our membership goal this year,” Moolenaar said. “We’re also hoping to send more students to the International Career Development Conference through competitive events and conferences.”

DECA is still welcoming students who are interested in joining.
