On Feb. 5 and 7, the DHS boys swim team took on their second largest event of their season: Tri-Cities. With a 12-year winning streak the boys went into the event with big shoes to fill.
Their confidence was not misplaced. The boys dominated the event, ending with a score of 654.5 points, completely blowing out the competition. The DHS swim team beat Heritage who came in second with 482 points, along with Bay City Western, Bay City Central, Bay City John Glenn, and in last place, Midland High.
With so many powerful swimmers the team is expected to excel in their meet against Midland High.
“We are very confident going into the Midland High meet because everyone basically decreased their time [at Tri-Cities] and a lot of people got state cuts,” junior Beau Matthews said.
The swimmers do not believe they will have trouble against their cross-town rivals and are trying to achieve personal goals and obtain better times.
The meet against MHS will take place on Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m. at DHS. For more information on boys swim, click here.
