On Dec. 9 the varsity cheer competed against six teams and placed first overall. The competition team traveled to Shepherd High School in Shepherd, Michigan to compete in their competition. The division placement is based on school enrollment which puts DHS in division one for competitions.
“Take this as a learning experience because it really shows how advanced we are and we just have to be confident in ourselves and we can do just as well and improve and get better along the way,” senior Elyssa Fields, said.
The team has nine more competitions for this season that will indicate their placement for districts and then regionals and then the state championship. Their next competition will be on Jan. 7.
