The DHS JV Baseball team took on Mt. Pleasant away on April 12th. Throughout the course of the first game the starting pitcher for DHS was sophomore Connor Moe throwing 4 innings, giving up 7 runs, with 2 earned putting his ERA at 4.50. Then, freshman Jacob  Stone came into the game as a relief pitcher and pitched 2 innings, giving up 3 runs, with none of them earned. Hitting for the first of two games was good but the Mt.Pleasant outfielders were playing deep catching all of DHS’ hits up next to the wall.  The pure willpower of the team still wasn’t enough of carry them to victory, losing the first game 2-10 having the mercy rule step in to stop the game. Starting the 2nd game pitching was freshman Lane Peters, pitching the first 5 innings, giving up 4 runs, and ending the day with a 7.20 ERA. Also, freshman Tanner Forshee pitched two innings, throwing his own no hitter with two strikeouts and two walks.

“It was intense and very nerve racking being that it was my first game on the high school level, and playing on JV didn’t help at all,” Tanner Forshee said about the game on Tuesday.

Justin “Ginger” Sanderson played well in the 2nd game with a double and a diving catch to keep the Chargers within reach of Mt. Pleasant, Connor Moe also hit an RBI triple. To tie the game up at 4-4 before it was called for being to late. The JV starts the season with a loss to Mt. Pleasant, and will continue their season with a 1-0-1 record.
