The girls varsity soccer team will be playing for a new coach in the 2016 season. The new coach is Erica Bader. She has been playing soccer for many years including playing in college at Northwood University. Bader has coached many Midland Fusion teams, helped coach the Northwood women’s soccer team and up until this year, she was the DHS JV soccer coach. One of her goals for the season is to get in shape.
“If we lose a game it will be because they were more skilled than us, not because they were more conditioned than us,” Bader said.
Another goal she has for the season is to have fun.
“We will be going on some ice cream runs, and play music some days at practice because those are the days you will remember the most looking back at high school soccer,” Bader said.
She believes if they work hard, they will be able to accomplish these goals. Bader has been a coach to many of the players in the past and is excited to coach them again this year. Thus far the players seem to like their new coach.
“I really like Erica as our new coach and I think we will improve a lot with her,” junior Jillian Skinner said.
The first game of the season was scheduled for Sat. April 9th at home against Traverse City West but was canceled. Coach Bader will be making her DHS varsity coaching debut on Sat. April 16th against Traverse City Central at home.
