Varsity hockey loses their first game of season

The varsity hockey team lost Nov. 30 in a tough fought game against Freeland Nouvel Valley Lutheran (FNV) at the Midland Civic Arena. With the final score of 4-3, the Chargers were not able to come back for a final goal to tie their first game of the season.

The scorers included Ethan Menzies with two goals and Remington Lough with one.

“We need less penalties,” freshman Caleb Pider said.

The penalties hurt the Chargers as three out of the four goals made by FNV were on power plays and stopped them from getting on top.

Pider had a goal attempt that upset the audience when the refs did not count the goal as the puck looked like it crossed the line.

The Chargers face up against Byron Center Dec. 2 at 7:45 at the Midland Civic Arena as they hope to achieve their first win of the season.
