As the month of February rolls around, wrestlers prepare for the Districts competition, which they completed on Wednesday, February 12th. High school wrestling is a competitive contact sport, with a slew of rules, strategies, and techniques for students to learn and excel at. The wrestling team came in second place at Districts, losing to Midland High in the finals.
“Districts was yesterday,” sophomore Brandon Scott said. “We didn’t make it out as a team, so we don’t get to move on to States. I don’t think we’ve made it to States in a long time.”
Regardless, Scott thinks the wrestling team has done particularly well over the last year.
“As a team it’s been pretty good,” Scott said. “We’ve always wanted to get better because we haven’t made it as a team past districts before, and we usually get beat by Midland. We always want to be better. We’ve gotten pretty good this season, but hopefully next season we’ll hopefully be better.”
