At 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 4th, DHS Varsity football team won their homecoming game against Saginaw High. The final score ended at 63-0, putting the Chargers at 3-2.
To start out the game, Senior Avain Rivera scored the first touchdown of the night, putting the score at 6-0. Rivera ended up scoring 2 more touchdowns later in the night. Scoring the 3rd touchdown of the night was senior Garrett Daniels. Daniels played both offense and defense throughout the night, help bringing the team to victory. Sophomore Carter Kohtz scored the 4th touchdown of the night. Kohtz was one of the very few sophomores that was asked to move up to play for varsity this season, along with his team mates Dawson Studebaker, Daniel Watkins, and Aidan Wardell. Five more touchdowns were scored throughout the night.
“I think we will do really well, we’ve put in a lot of preparation and hard work,” senior Collin Erickson said. “I mean ever since those first two weeks, they really changed the team around and got focused up a little more so I definitely think we will be ready once come homecoming week.”
The Chargers’ next game will be Friday, October 11th, at Bay City Western @ 7:00 p.m.
