The Charger boys varsity tennis team took third in a quad match versus University of Detroit Jesuit, Forest Hills Central, and Flushing on Sept. 11. U of D Jesuit came away with the victory, with Forest Hills Central’s doubles teams barely defeating the Chargers.
“We’re a young team and we’re developing, we made some lineup changes,” varsity tennis coach Terry Schwartzkopf said.
Playing for the doubles, senior Sentthur Vijayam agreed with Schwartzkopf, knowing that this was the team’s first time trying out the new lineup, and that improvements can be made.
“We had the upper hand, and I don’t think we capitalized on their mistakes,” said Vijayam.
Vijayam and junior Gavin Killmaster competed as the No. 1 doubles against U of D Jesuit and Forest Hills Central.
“The doubles [will] continue to improve, by states we will be a stronger, more complete team,” Schwartzkopf said.
The tennis team’s next match will be Tuesday, Sept. 24th, versus Davison at home.
