Boys Varsity Tennis Heads to States

The DHS boys varsity tennis team is dominating with a 17-0 record overall. Coach Terry Schwartzkopf is very excited with what the team will be bringing to states in the upcoming week and cannot wait to see how his team will place among the other teams in the division.

“It takes three specific things to be successful as a team,” Schwartzkopf said. “It takes depth, dedication, and desire.”

The varsity tennis team has very high expectations to live up to considering they’ve taken first place at states the past five years but that just makes them want to work even harder.

“To do well in states, we have to work together as a team,” senior Daniel Magno said. “You’re only as good as your weakest player.”

As exciting as it is going to states for DHS, it takes a lot of hard work to get there and even more to be able to take first place for the sixth year in a row. Their next competition is Regionals in East Lansing on Oct. 9.
