Freaks, Geeks, and Losers, or FGL, kicked off their year of activities on Friday, Sept. 12, by watching The Avengers. On Friday, Sept. 19 they watched the anime Fullmetal Alchemist.
“The first meeting was pretty slim, but our second meeting had a bunch of new freshmen,” junior Emily Webb, one of the leaders of the club, said. “The new students seem to be pretty open to new fandoms and new friends. I think FGL is looking to be a very populous and exciting group this year.”
Although FGL is officially overseen by Ric Shahin, he attests that the club is truly led by the students themselves, and that they make all the decisions.
“The club reflects the changing interests of students, so activities are what they want, including multiple activities on any given Friday,” Shahin said.
FGL is all about making friends and sharing interests with others, and that means a lot to these students.
“It’s a place for people to express their individuality as well as feel the friendship of people with similarities,” Webb said.
