There is a lot of confidence surrounding the girls golf team for the 2014 season. Following many successful tournaments and a state ranking they have high hopes going into the rest of the year. Even after graduating one of their better players, the Chargers have shown outstanding form, winning several tournaments including a 26 stroke win at the Saginaw Valley Jamboree.
“Our goal is to be first in states this year, which is a pretty good goal for how our team has improved throughout the season,” junior Alexie Flaminio said.
Although states is a big goal for the team, the tournaments building up to it are also important.
“We are preparing for Davison because we want to win the tournament and beat Davison because they are one of the better teams in the Saginaw Valley League,” Flaminio said. “There is also going to be some good teams we will see in states, so we want to place well.”
The Chargers are looking to carry this momentum into the back end of the season and take a run at the state title. Their next event is Sept. 22 at Lapeer West.
