DHS boys varsity basketball defeats MHS 49-44

Last night the boys varsity basketball team beat crosstown rivals MHS 49-44 with the help of a large student section and packed gym supporting both schools.

“It’s great to see everyone come together to cheer on and celebrate our school’s success,” junior Lydia Mayle said. “Whether we win or lose it’s great to see that many people come out to support our teams, especially when it’s in front of Midland. Anyone who wasn’t at the game last night missed out big time.”

Senior Evan Marquardt led DHS with 22 points, followed by senior Jonathan Bork with nine points.

“I thought we played really well and it was a good team win,” senior Austin Deiters said. “Shout out to James Volk for getting the student section nice and rowdy.”

The Chargers’ next game is this Friday, Jan. 31 away at Saginaw Heritage.
