A highlight in DHS athletic history is its boys swim team. This impressive program has been able to win the Tri-Cities meet for 16 years straight. This alone may be impressive, but the fact that the team has a great chance to extend that streak to 17 this year has some people excited to see what they can do.
The team currently sits at seventh in Division Two, and first in the Saginaw Valley League. Last Saturday at the Forrest Hills invitational the team earned a much welcomed win. The team took home seven golds, four silvers, and two bronze medals, ending the meet with a total score of 659. The team was led by Collin Che and Louie Sun both coming up with two gold medals, continuing there streaks of impressive performances.
The team currently has multiple returning seniors who seem ready to take the group to the next level. The energy the team shows at the meets is not the same as most other teams. The team commands attention and once they have it they go to work in the water. The potential for these guys is limitless as they continue to shock and delight the fanbase they have.
The group continues to put in the work it takes to be the best by practicing in often early mornings, long after school hours, and some days before a meet to make sure they get in the work needed for the day.
Coach Gary Strickler holds a strong belief that this team can finish off the year ranked highly in the state of Michigan. The team currently sits at fifteenth in the state, there is a long way till the end of the season anything could happen for this group between now and then.
