Many different churches in Midland have adopted one or more families, and Blessed Sacrament Parish has multiple groups within the church that have adopted a family. Outreach, the high school youth group with Blessed Sacrament Parish that participates in a mission trip at the beginning of each summer, has provided Christmas gifts for an anonymous family in need that would ordinarily not be able to have presents. Many of the students in Outreach have helped with the Christmas preparations. Junior Aiden Saggers helped with the buying portion of the preparations.
“Our Outreach program went out to Target and bought $150 worth of presents for each of the three family members,” Saggers said. “We wrapped them and packaged them at the last meeting.”
The members of Outreach believe that the Adopt a Family program is a valuable experience for all those involved.
“Adopt a Family is important because it gives the children something to look forward to on Christmas,” senior Maddy Saggers said. “It makes me feel warm inside knowing that I helped a family at this time of year.”
