The boys’ soccer team had another good year and had their team banquet on Wednesday Nov. 2.
At the event, head soccer coach Jeffery Richards gave compliments to all of the players about the season and then they gave out awards. Coach’s award went to Conrad Lather and Jacob Logan, the best defensemen was Jacob Logan and the Chargers’ most valuable midfielder was Michael Howson.
“It was a good season,” Richards said. “The boys played really well.”
The team had 14 wins 3 losses and one tie, also winning the Oxford tournament. The Throughout the year, they were led by Conner Baak. He won Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Forward and the prestigious first team all regional honor, signifying he was one of the best in the whole region.
The rest of the team was solid also with Conner Baak, Michael Howson, Jacob Logan, Conrad Lather, Steve Camilleti and Paul Deford getting first team all-district awards.
“I thought we had a good season,” McNamara said. “We lost to Midland in the beginning but we came back and beat them.”
“I would label are season a success,” junior Kei Yamamoto said, “We started out a little rocky but we came together.”
The team would advance to the regional finals, which was their goal. The season ended on a loss to Troy, who was third in the state, although they forced them into double overtime.
“I wish I could relive the regional game that we lost,” Yamamoto said.
The members of the team weren’t the only ones proud of the season.
“We, like all teams had our ups and downs but overall we didn’t lose that many games.” Richards said. “The kids played really well when it counted.”
