DHS was ranked in the Top 100 schools in the state according to US News and World Report. Many think this is a very notable achievement.
“It feels great,” principal Scott Cochran said.
Specifically, DHS got ranked number 38 out of 1,136 schools in the state. Cochran believes this achievement was made by the staff and students.
“I think that it is a good school,” senior Mary Jacobs said.
Cochran thought the school’s academic programs helped contribute to the ranking.
“The fact that we have a wonderful CTE program, everything from Auto Tech to business to Marketing to healthcare classes [helped],” Cochran said.
The ranking is also based on extracurriculars.
“So I imagine it’s just a combination of things,” assistant principal Matt Murphy said. “We have a strong reputation across our academics and extracurriculars; our community supports our district and our buildings very well.”
