The Chippewa Nature Center is celebrating the beginning of fall with their Fall Harvest Festival. The Fall Festival is on Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Chippewa Nature Center members get in free and non-members under 18 get in free and non-members 18 years or older get in for $5.<\/p>\n
People of all ages will enjoy demonstrations, crafts, and activities that reflect 19th century life on the farm at harvest time. Demonstrations include: woodcarving, wood stove cooking, herb-craft, woodworking, cider making, beekeeping, apple butter making, spinning and weaving wool, natural dyes, and traditional music. Children’s activities include: candle dipping, corn grinding, stenciling, leather stamping, rope-making, schoolyard games and more.<\/p>\n
DHS’ Key Club has volunteers going to the festival to work shifts of about three hours. Key Club is a national organization for volunteer opportunities.<\/p>\n
“Key club is a great opportunity to get involved in the community,” freshman\u00a0Isabel Chaput said.<\/p>\n
There is still time for DHS students\u00a0to join Key Club. Meetings are held on Wednesdays after 7th hour. Students must come to at least half the meetings and volunteer for at least six events. Students don’t\u00a0have to be in Key Club to volunteer though,\u00a0they\u00a0can volunteer anyway.<\/p>\n
