The DHS drama club had their first performance of the year from Nov. 21-23 at Central Middle School auditorium. The students put on the production “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” For some seniors, it was to be their last DHS drama club performance, and a big part of what they’ll be missing most are the pump-up exercises that the club does before a show.<\/p>\n
Actors and crew members do chants ranging from the Duke of York chant to singing “Lean on Me”. These are bonding exercises done to make everyone feel like an important part of a team, and to get performers excited and ready to act.<\/p>\n
“I love traditions because I feel like the drama club becomes a family by the end of the show,” sophomore Maddy Futter said.<\/p>\n
For the seniors, these warm ups can be especially important. There is a specific chant where the seniors jump into the middle and scream, “I wanna be a rockstar!”<\/p>\n
“When it’s the last show and the seniors’ last traditions it’s very emotional because we’ve become such good friends,” Futter said.<\/p>\n
