On Oct. 27 the Spanish Club will be hosting a party to celebrate the Mexican holiday el D\u00eda de los Muertos.
\n“It is a day to celebrate and honor their dead ancestors,” Spanish Club Adviser Mary Swanson said.
\n“It is not supposed to be sad,” Spanish Club Vice President Nicolas Pereira said. “It is supposed to be happy remembrance. Mexican culture is different than typical Western culture, as they celebrate death.”
\nThe Spanish Club members believe that students should join them in their celebration of D\u00eda de los Muertos because it is an event that is very important to Mexican culture that students should have knowledge of.
\nAll are welcome to attend the D\u00eda de los Muertos party that will take place after school from 3 to 4:30 in Swanson’s room. Free Mexican food will be offered to all that join in the festivities, which will include crafts and fun activities.
\n“All who attend can participate in this cultural event that many Mexicans enjoy,” Pereira said.<\/p>\n
