A restaurant that brought a lot of buzz to Midland\u00a0and the Midland Mall two summers ago has already closed. Chip n\u2019\u00a0Wich\u00a0was brought to Midland in the summer of 2013 after winning Food Court Wars,\u00a0a\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0on the Food Network,\u00a0but\u00a0has closed its\u00a0stand\u00a0in the Midland Mall.<\/p>\n
The restaurant featured sandwiches with a few different flavors of potato chips in them. They also featured\u00a0Faygo\u00a0pop and ice floats with that pop. The\u00a0food\u00a0originally seemed new and interesting, unfortunately the idea didn\u2019t last and the restaurant\u00a0has\u00a0closed in the food court already.<\/p>\n
Owners believe the sandwich shop was simply \u201ctoo gourmet\u201d for the mall setting.<\/p>\n
After Chip n\u2019\u00a0Wich\u00a0 closed, Midland Mall\u00a0General Manager Dan Irvin\u00a0announced\u00a0that\u00a0new restaurant\u00a0Zitoon\u00a0Mediterranean Food would\u00a0be opening where Chip-n-Wich\u00a0was.\u00a0Zitoon\u00a0opened recently, in mid-September.<\/p>\n
This restaurant will be another restaurant not associated with a large corporation that will enter the Midland Mall. Many restaurants like this have struggled to stay in business, but\u00a0Zitoon\u00a0looks to break that trend.\u00a0The Mediterranean food will bring a new kind of taste and flavor to the Midland Mall food court.<\/p>\n
\u201cI actually really liked Chip n\u2019\u00a0Wich,\u201d\u00a0junior Josh\u00a0Riepma\u00a0said.\u00a0\u201cIt just wasn\u2019t the right fit for the mall. I haven\u2019t tried\u00a0Zitoon\u00a0yet,\u00a0but I\u2019m interested to see how it compares.\u201d<\/p>\n
