For the sixth time this season, the DHS soccer team tied a game, the most recent tie coming last night in a 2-2 tie with Flint Powers Catholic. The Chargers were winning 2-1, but a red card followed by a successful penalty kick ended the match in a draw.<\/p>\n
“All the ties have been\u00a0frustrating,” junior Shane Huisman said. “Especially because we know we can play better, but we’ve started to pick up momentum heading into districts.”<\/p>\n
Juniors Brandon Derstine and Nick Coon scored for DHS. Derstine’s goal gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead, and Coon’s goal gave the team a 2-1 advantage at the time.<\/p>\n
The Chargers played the final 14 minutes of the second half without a player, due to a red card on senior Ethan Loftis.<\/p>\n
The Chargers begin district play next Monday against Bay City Central, a team that DHS mercied 8-0 in their only regular season meeting. The game is at Bay City Central.<\/p>\n
