On Sept. 10, Sims 3: Movie Stuff, the ninth and final stuff pack for the computer game, the Sims 3, was released. A stuff pack is an expansion for the game that can include new clothes, new hairstyles and even new furniture for the base game.<\/p>\n
The first Sims game was released in 2000. Sims is a life simulation game that allows players to create their own playable characters, \u201cSims\u201d, who can get jobs, develop skills and build relationships with other Sims. Since 2000, several spin-off games, including The Sims 2, The Sims 3 and, next year, The Sims 4.<\/p>\n
The Sims can hold appeal for players for a variety of reasons. Senior Catherine Oates enjoys being able to live in a world different from reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s better than real life,\u201d Oates said. \u201cThere\u2019s gay marriage. There\u2019s no racism. You can get whatever job you want. Women don\u2019t get paid less. It\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senior Kathleen Bailey also likes escaping reality in The Sims.<\/p>\n
\u201cTime goes by faster in the game,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cYou can change the time, from really fast, semi-fast and normal fast.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the world of The Sims, every minute in the real life is one hour in the life of a Sim. Players have the option to fast forward using two advanced settings.<\/p>\n
Each of The Sims spin-offs have several expansion packs and stuff packs to enhance the gaming experience. One of these expansions allows players to create pets for their Sims.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s lots of cool stuff, like the expansion packs,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cPets are fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although The Sims provides a lot of different areas of gameplay, many players prefer to make their Sims miserable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to kill Sims,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cIt\u2019s awkward, but fun. I like to make them vampires and werewolves.\u201d<\/p>\n
Many players know how to light their Sims\u2019 house on fire or remove the ladders from the pool in the middle of a swim.<\/p>\n
The last stuff pack for The Sims 3 promises new objects and looks for players to explore, and the last expansion pack for the series, The Sims 3: Into the Future, will be released on October 22 of this year.
