On Mar 11, 2013, ABC\u2019s The Bachelor, season 17, announced the final couple. Sean Lowe, the very\u00a0 bachelor proposed to Catherine Guidici, while sending a well-liked fan favorite, Lindsey Yenter, home.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought [Catherine] was too smart for him,\u201d English teacher Sarah Hechlick said. \u201cBut I hope it works out, I liked her.\u201d<\/p>\n
Guidici, a 26 year old graphic designer from Seattle, Washington, accepted Lowe\u2019s proposal immediately, at the Final Rose ceremony in Thailand.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a little ridiculous for them to go all the way to Thailand, and the proposal stage did not look that good,\u201d junior Olivia Shelton said. \u201cBut at the same time, if that opportunity is there for traveling and doing whatever you want, then go for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shelton was rooting for Guidici for much of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just seemed so much better suited for each other than all of the other contestants,\u201d Shelton said. \u201cBesides that, I didn\u2019t like Lindsey that much.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hechlick agrees with Shelton\u2019s sentiments.<\/p>\n
\u201cI liked Catherine,\u201d Hechlick said. \u201cShe was quirky, smart, and real.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, not everyone agreed with Lowe\u2019s pick initially.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was really mad at first, because I liked Lindsey a lot more,\u201d senior Maria Ilundain said. \u201cBut at the \u2018After The Final Rose\u2019, they looked really happy and I think that they\u2019re going to last.\u201d<\/p>\n
With season 17 of The Bachelor coming to a close, Desiree Hartstock was selected to be the next Bachelorette, for season 9. However, there is some concern for how Hartstock\u2019s brother will act throughout the season. During The Bachelor, he disrupted Lowe\u2019s and Hartstock\u2019s romance by calling Lowe a \u201cplayboy\u201d. This inevitably caused Lowe to send Hartstock home.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m worried about her brother,\u201d Hechlick said. \u201cHe was sketchy, and I think he might get in the way of her love again.\u201d<\/p>\n
