The Championship showcased all kinds of Hip Hop and High Kick groups from middle school teams to the collegiate level allowing the DHS pommers to view other schools\u2019 performances.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI liked watching all the other teams perform and comparing their routines,\u201d junior Alexis Steiner said.<\/p>\n<p>The varsity pompon team competed in the Medium Varsity High Kick division with seven other teams and the JV team competed in Junior Varsity High Kick with four additional teams. Each team had a theme to their performance and varsity\u2019s was Alice in Wonderland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were cards and we had an Alice and a Queen,\u201d Steiner said.<\/p>\n<p>The JV team\u2019s theme was the King of Rock and Roll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wore Elvis wigs and Elvis costumes,\u201d sophomore Jill Poliskey said. \u201cWe had guitar moves and random Elvis moves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Varsity placed fifth with a score of 272.5 and JV placed third with 258 points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think our coaches help a lot,\u201d Poliskey said. \u201cThey planned everything for us and made the routine and they did a really good job coaching us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Placing fifth was a happy surprise for the varsity team and was an exciting end to a long day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been doing a lot of extra practicing and a lot of conditioning and we\u2019ve been doing tons and tons of high kicks to get ready for it [the competition],\u201d Steiner said.<\/p>\n<p>The Championship was the final competition of the fall season for the pommers.
