Christmas is the number one holiday celebrated at nine in 10 Americans while other holidays such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are less represented. Both holidays are significantly less popular with only five percent celebrating Hanukkah and three percent for Kwanzaa. Student council wanted to educate students on various holidays represented at DHS.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sophomore TJ Neuenfeldt begin the idea to teach students about holidays such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa part of Midland Public Schools new inclusive statement about promoting diversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cA lot of kids don\u2019t know other holidays other than Christmas but there are other holidays such as Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Los Posadas celebrated around the world,&#8221; Neuenfeldt said. \u201cIt\u2019s trying to be more inclusive for other students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student council played on the idea of The Twelve Days of Christmas over the announcements by educating students on other holidays celebrated around the world, picking four holidays right before winter break. A small fact was given about each of the four holidays: Christmas,&nbsp; Hanukkah, Los Posadas, and Kwanzaa.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As more holidays are celebrated during the year student council wants to include more holidays such as Ramadan to teach students about different cultures.
