{"id":13695,"date":"2019-09-17T10:25:29","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T15:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/update.midlandps.org\/?p=13695"},"modified":"2019-09-17T10:25:30","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T15:25:30","slug":"three-is-the-magic-number","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.midlandps.org\/index.php\/2019\/09\/three-is-the-magic-number\/","title":{"rendered":"Three is the magic number"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h6><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Drama club begins 2019-2020 school year with new leadership<\/span><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seniors Lydia Barber, Avery Brown, and Madison Anzarut lead the way as Drama Club\u2019s new presidents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLast year we only had one president,\u201d Barber said. \u201cShe had a lot on her plate, so our facilitator, Gina Kearly, decided it would be best to have three presidents this year to share all of the responsibilities.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only does the Drama Club have three presidents, they also have vice presidents and treasurers to help keep everything running smooth and organized.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnna Stolz and I are co-treasurers, so what we do is organize fundraisers, which is how we get most of our money,\u201d junior Evan Trotter-Wright said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For smaller clubs like Drama Club, fundraising can be important. Theater productions can be expensive, so money is a must for success.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Drama Club isn\u2019t as well funded as other parts of the school, so we want to increase ticket sales to bring in more money so we can keep putting on better shows,\u201d Barber said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with selling more tickets at each show, the club puts on annual fundraisers to be able to fund the shows.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have the Giving Bean fundraiser where we sell coffee to people and we sell ad space in the programs for both shows, and that\u2019s really where we get most of our money from.\u201d Trotter-Wright said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Drama Club will be putting on William Shakespeare\u2019s \u201cThe Tempest\u201d this autumn.
